Devon Place Footbridge, Newport Station, Gwent

Here are a few shots from an interesting Architectural and Lighting photography project in Newport, Gwent. The subject of the shoot was the new Devon Place pedestrian bridge that runs from Queensway across Newport station to Devon Place on the north side. The total length of the ramp is over 230m and the section across the station is over 80m long. The bridge was completed in 2023 at a cost of £10.5 mil and designed by Grimshaw.

The main purpose of my shoot was to show of the lighting supplied by DW Windsor that appears in the illuminated handrail and the integrated bench seating on the Queensway side of the station. We had to wait for a few weeks to get an evening with a clear sky and low wind for the drone shots. Long exposure times are needed for this type of shot which calls for very still air or the drone shots will suffer from motion blur.
