New £19M footbridge, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park
It is always good to see a scheme during the construction phase and then have the opportunity to go back and photograph the finished project on a bright spring day. Visiting a project on several occasions at different times of the day gives a much better sense of how it works with it's environment and the available light. You can then plan how best to photograph the finished structure to show off the scale and design to the best advantage.
This is the new 44mm single span steel bridge at Bridgewater Road on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The £19M bridge was fabricated and installed by Kilnbridge of London. The scheme included the removal of the original 1930's bridge spanning the Waterworks River that runs through the Olympic Park.
I photographed the bridge 3 times, on installation day during the roadway construction and just before the official opening in May 2026.
